Maria and The Mummy cast at Comic Con
July 27th, 2008 Filed Under New Event, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor No Comments / Comment?

Maria and her The Mummy co-stars attended Comic Con yesterday, to promote the movie. Below are a couple of small articles about it (not many details in there … and I couldn’t find anything else), and I’ve only found one pic so far which I will add to the Gallery…

“It’s the only movie I don’t appear naked in.” — Maria Bello, describing her work in “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.”

The pace kicked up a notch or two on Saturday, the busiest day of the 2008 San Diego Comic Con. Films were well represented but the TV side of things also helped to make the third day of the annual event something those in attendance won’t likely forget.

Disney/Pixar followed up with a presentation of their upcoming animated films, Up and Bolt. Disney showed about 20 minutes of footage, which unfortunately I can’t report on because I was busy doing interviews at the time and had to miss the panel. Same goes for the presentation by Universal Studios who returned for their second big panel of the Con, bringing the entire The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor cast – Brendan Fraser, Maria Bello, Michelle Yeoh, Luke Ford, Isabella Leong, John Hannah and Jet Li! – out onstage. They showed off a new clip of the Yetis from the film and took questions from the audience. (source)

I wasn’t a fan of the “Mummy” franchise, but I am now. Brendan Fraser, Jet-Li, Michelle Yeoh, Maria Bello and the rest of the cast came to introduce their new flick “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.” The panel was a hoot and they showed an action sequence that got me hooked. One word: yetis. We’ll leave it at that. (source)

Universal had a jam-packed and star-studded lineup for the Comic-Con crowd on Saturday. First up was its August 1st release, “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.” Reprising his role as Rick O’Connor, Brendan Fraser was joined on stage with fellow cast members Jet Li, Maria Bello, John Hannah, Michelle Yeoh, Luke Ford and Isabella Leong. When asked what it was like to finally get to do the fight that Asia has been longing for between her and Jet Li, Yeoh said that it was hard for her and Li to not laugh when facing off on the set. Li said the reason he took the role was because it was a chance to play the villain, and that the money wasn’t bad either. He also added that the fights for this film were very easy for him because most of them took place on a motion-capture stage. Fraser blushed when Yeoh said that the movie was a great opportunity to work with a great cast, especially the adorable Fraser. Bello, who recently turned 40 (and still looks stunning), said the film was like a dream come true, because she got into acting so she could become Indiana Jones and never thought she’d get the chance to be in an action film at this point in her career. Fraser said that he believes that the success of the franchise comes from the central love story and possibly some really great CGI. Fans were treated to a clip from the film, which featured three very large CG Yeti and the powerful scream of the Dragon Emperor. (source)
