Maria Bello says she “thanks God” for the second chances she’s been given throughout her life.
The actress hit the red carpet in Beverly Hills wearing a borrowed little black dress for the LA premiere of her movie The Yellow Handkerchief.
“It’s YSL,” she explained. “I borrowed it from a friend because I had no time to find anything.”
The film, which also stars William Hurt, deals with getting a second chance in life, which Maria joked she’s had plenty of: “I have been given a lot of second chances, I’m happy to say.”
“I think it’s when you wake up one day and you realise you didn’t do something exactly how you wish you would have done it and for me then it’s about getting on my knees and praying to God to give me a second chance.”
“Whenever I do that he gives me one,” she added. “Thank God, cos I need a lot of them!”
Having appeared in her first Hollywood blockbuster this year – The Mummy: Tomb Of The Dragon Emperor – The Yellow Handkerchief sees Maria back in the independent film arena.
“I like both,” she explained. “It was a dream of mine to do an action adventure and I did it, but this is sort of my heart, character driven movies are the thing I’m always drawn back to.”
