Salma Hayek was hard to miss this weekend. The “Frida” actress and her husband, Puma CEO Francois-Henri Pinault, were at the Fan Pier Saturday as the around-the-world Volvo Ocean Race resumed. The two then stopped by Kings, where Adam Sandler and his “Grown Ups” costars Chris Rock, David Spade, Maria Bello, and Kevin James kicked off the movie shoot with a family-friendly shindig. While some guests chowed on pulled-pork sliders and pizza, Sandler, James, and Steffiana de la Cruz, wife of “The King of Queens” star, bowled a few frames with their kids. Bello, meanwhile, was playing video games with her son Jackson and boyfriend Dan McDermott. (Hayek and Pinault brought their daughter Valentia Paloma.) Also there was director Dennis Dugan, producers Barry Bernardi and Jack Giarraputo, and actor Jonathan Loughran. The movie is set to start shooting today (May 18th) in Southborough.

Funny guys keep ’em rollin’
Yesterday’s (May 18th) gloomy skies served up the perfect funeral atmosphere that Adam Sandler & Co. needed for the first day of shooting their “Big Chill”-like buddy comedy, “Grown Ups” in a Southboro church.
Grown Up high school buds Adam, Chris Rock, Kevin James and the crazily coiffed Rob Schneider dressed in their Sunday best for the scene where their beloved high school basketball coach is laid to rest.
Also on hand inside the Pilgrim Congregational Church was the sensational Salma Hayek, wearing a fierce funeral hat. The “30 Rock” funnygal plays Sandler’s wife in the Dennis Dugan-directed flick.
MIA was David Spade, another school bud, as well as Maria Bello and Maya Rudolph, who play other wives.
The funeral and burial scenes will film all this week at the church and the Old Burial Ground next door. And then the movie makes its move north to Essex, where they’ll film in and around a cottage in Centennial Grove .
While somber for the cameras inside the church yesterday, the Hollywood pack flashed smiles, signed autographs and posed for pics for fans outside before heading off in a caravan of SUVs for a lunch break.
The night before shooting, Chris Rock, David Spade and Rob Schneider had a hankering for Italian, so they ate at Ciao Bella . And in the afternoon, Sandler and Schneider ordered up a pie at Bostone Pizza on Newbury Street, which just so happens to be owned by one of his Manchester, N.H., school classmates, Caryn Letourneau King . Sadly, she wasn’t in the pizzeria at the time.
“She would have loved the chance to say hi,” said Caryn’s hubby, Chris .
Also during the weekend, Big Daddy Sandler treated his daughters and sister to lunch on the patio at Pazzo, also on Newbury, because Sadie, 3, thought the waitress Diane Meftah looked like Ariel from “The Little Mermaid!”
“She pointed at me while they were reviewing the menu box out front, so Dad decided it was the place to eat lunch,” Meftah said.
Such a Grown Up decision!

However, another site lists this funeral scene as part of The Company Men:
After joining the cast of “The Company Men” – the John Wells project that has had Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, and Kevin Costner popping up all over the city – Tom Kemp spent Monday at the Milton Cemetery filming a funeral scene with the aforementioned actors and “Company Men” costars Maria Bello and Maryann Plunkett. Kemp’s been cast as a white-collar guy who, with Affleck’s character, gets laid off from a corporate job. Kemp’s already shot scenes with Affleck in Natick and will be filming more over the next two weeks.
