The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee DVD screencaps
November 30th, 2009 Filed Under Gallery Updates, The Private Lives of Pippa Lee No Comments / Comment?

As previously mentioned, the The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee was released on DVD here in the UK earlier this month, and today I have added screencaptures! Maria’s role is small, but it is certainly stand-out and memorable! Her character, Suky, is bipolar and goes from one extreme to another, which must’ve given Maria something good to sink her acting teeth into!

US fans, remember that the The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee is out in cinemas in your country now, and will be hitting more cities next month. Check the official site for locations.

Screencaps from a couple of interviews
November 29th, 2009 Filed Under Gallery Updates, Site News No Comments / Comment?

Well, I said the other day that there would be more updates here this weekend, but it turns out I’ve spent a lot of time working on the site ‘re-vamp’ and the new content, so there aren’t many updates for you to see. The new layout and full content will be up within the next few days – I just have a few more things to finish off ;)

What I have added today though, is screencaps from a couple of interviews.

The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee in US theatres now!
November 27th, 2009 Filed Under The Private Lives of Pippa Lee No Comments / Comment?

The Private Lives Of Pippa Lee is released in US cinemas today! It seems to be a very limited release though, and you can see the cinemas it is showing at here. If you do get a chance to see it then go, and let us know what you thought of the film and Maria’s performance!

Here are a couple of review tidbits I’ve just come across:

“Maria Bello once again pushes the envelope as Pippa Lee’s emotionally volatile, pill-popping mother, whose mood swings eventually force the teenage Pippa Lee to flee to a lesbian aunt in Manhattan.”nypost.com

“But the best performance, next to the nuanced and evocative portrait painted by Wright, is that of Maria Bello. She plays young Pippa’s charismatic but deeply diet-pill-addicted mother. It’s a particularly fearless performance.”usatoday.com

Remember that the DVD is already out here in the UK, so European fans can enjoy it from the comfort of their own homes. I’ll be adding screencaps very soon.

Stay tuned for more updates here at Maria-Bello.org this weekend!

Actress Maria Bello Honoured By Save Darfur Coalition
November 27th, 2009 Filed Under Charity No Comments / Comment?

Actress Maria Bello is being honored by the Save Darfur Coalition as part of an initiative in conjunction with the internationally-observed 16 Days of Activism Against Gender Violence.

Bello has helped raise awareness about the ongoing genocide and gender-based violence in Darfur and Sudan. Bello has teamed up with Niemat Ahmadi, the Save Darfur Coalition’s Darfuri Liaison Officer, to bring attention to the violence against women in a number of venues, including CNN.

“Maria Bello has used her celebrity to help the women in Darfur and throughout Sudan,” said Niemat Ahmadi a genocide survivor and liaison to the Darfuri diaspora community at the Save Darfur Coalition. “Maria has greatly amplified the courageous voices of victims of sexual violence in Darfur, and is a leader in pressing for the end of sexual violence.”

During the 16 days, the coalition’s campaign will honor a leader in the fight to empower, protect and uplift women in Sudan and will offer a corresponding action for activists. Those honored include groups and individuals who are fighting to end sexual violence in Darfur and helping to educate their communities about the ongoing suffering in Sudan. The movement is observed on November 25 (International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women) and on December 10 (International Human Rights Day).

The Save Darfur Coalition and activists observe the 3rd day of the campaign by lighting a candle in honor of the victims. Advocates can light their own candle or help contribute to the cause by purchasing a candle from Connection Candle, a line of candles that features aromas from a collection of ingredients found in Sudan and inspired by Darfur’s daily life and celebrations. The proceeds will benefit the Save Darfur Coalition.

November 27th, 2009 Filed Under Gallery Updates No Comments / Comment?

As promised, I’ve added screencaps from Maria’s appearance on the Late Late Show With Craig Ferguson on Tuesday. It was a pretty random interview, but Maria was lovely as always, and I really like her hair!

The video of this interview is a few posts down.

Mr and Mrs Smith screencaps – Opening Titles and Episode 1
November 26th, 2009 Filed Under Gallery Updates No Comments / Comment?

I’ve found and downloaded all episodes of Maria’s 1996 tv series Mr and Mrs Smith, which I’m pretty pleased about! I wasn’t sure I’d be able to get a hold of this. Today I’ve added screencaps from the opening credits and the first episode, The Pilot.

The series seems to be a bit of light-hearted action fun, and Maria is a sassy and smart Mrs Smith … I may be biased, but she definitely puts the spark in the show so far for me ;)

More caps from Mr and Mrs Smith, plus from a couple of movies coming very soon! Oh, and Craig Ferguson screencaps (video below).

Bello in no rush to wed
November 26th, 2009 Filed Under Personal No Comments / Comment?

Actress MARIA BELLO is in no rush to marry rocker BRYN MOOSER – because the couple can’t agree on where to hold their nuptials.

Bello, 42, became engaged to the Proud Mary bass player in July 2008, but 16 months later, the pair have still not set a date.

And the indecisive star admits her 29-year-old fiance is reluctant to help with the planning.

She explains, “I don’t know (when we will marry)… We’re not big planners… We can’t figure it out.”

Hypnotist ends Bello’s nicotine addiction
November 26th, 2009 Filed Under Personal No Comments / Comment?

Actress MARIA BELLO called in a hypnotherapist to help her stop smoking and still can’t believe she has kicked her longtime nicotine addiction.

The health-conscious Coyote Ugly star is convinced she has finally kicked the bad habit after she was lulled under a hypnotherapist’s spell at the weekend (22Nov09).

And Bello has given up trying to demystify the new age treatment – because she’s stunned how quickly she’s snapped out of her addiction. She explains, “I quit for a year, started again for a month, and then… I went to a hypnotist – and now I’m not smoking. It’s my one horrible addiction.

“You can’t believe it’s working because you think, ‘This is ridiculous, it’s not going to work…’ And then it works.”
