"As I’ve gotten older I’ve become more open. You stop judging yourself and you stop judging others. And it
doesn’t matter anymore if anybody likes you."
Over 400 screencaps from Maria’s appearance in Due South in 1996 have been added to the Gallery!
In her one episode appearance, Maria plays tough journalist Mackenzie King, who is hoping that Constable Fraser will provide her with an exclusive story for the paper she works for. Maria is pretty funny in some scenes! A video will be added here once I start working on the video archive (vote on this!).
I would like to wish Maria and her family and friends, and all of the visitors here at Maria-Bello.org, a very HAPPY CHRISTMAS! I hope your holiday is spent with loved ones and filled with lots of joy!!
Below are a video and screencaptures from Maria’s recent appearance on Craig Ferguson, for his 1000th show celebration. The segment was filmed at the same time she appeared on the show in November as she has the same hair and dress as then. It’s a pretty funny interview!
I’m very excited to present to you our new layout here at Maria-Bello.org! I adore this photoshoot of Maria, and I think Frederik did a perfect job in creating something fitting for the photos, and for Maria and this site.
With this new layout comes the (re-)launch of our content – as I’ve mentioned before, these past few months I’ve been working on the content pages – updating what we did have and adding lots more – because I never really got them completed since the site opened in April 2008. Practically every page has been updated. Lots of information has been added to our Maria section, including a ‘hand-written’ (by me) original Biography, Awards & Nominations, Name Analysis, trivia and more. I’ve started working on the Filmography pages, but currently the only ones complete are the smaller TV projects and Other projects pages – the rest of the pages will be written gradually. One of the pages I’m most pleased with is the Press section – I’ve added as many interviews as I can find in there, and it provides for some fantastic reading for us Maria fans! There are new icons in the Media section, and more games and features in the Extras section, including many new photos of Maria with other celebrities. Further details about Maria-Bello.org have been added to the Web/Site section, the Affiliates page has been changed to a new format and updated, and we have new Link M-B.org buttons.
As mentioned, the Filmography pages are still under construction, as is the Charities page. I will also be working on a Video Archive for the site, but before I start on that I’d like to know what format you’d like that to be in – streaming (where you click play and watch the videos online) or downloadable (where you save the video to your computer and can watch it when you’re offline) – vote in the poll here.
I hope you enjoy the new layout and content. I’ve put a lot of work into it with the aim of producing a fitting tribute to the wonderful Maria Bello! Don’t hesitate to leave a comment here!
[Article dated Dec 16th] Maria Bello and Michael Sheen have wrapped production on “Beautiful Boy,” an indie film directed by Shawn Ku,. Ku and Michael Armbruster wrote the script and Lee Clay and Eric Gozlan are the producers.
Bello and Sheen play a married couple on the verge of separation when they are hit with the news their 18-year-old son committed a mass shooting at his college, before taking his own life.
Pic, which just wrapped in L.A., marked the feature directing debut for Ku, who created a stir in Sundance for his unconventional musical short film “Pretty Dead Girl.”
Moon Bloodgood, Alan Tudyk, Kyle Gallner, Austin Nichols and Meat Loaf also in the cast.
Mark Moran, Richard Gabai and Richard Iott are exec producers.
Bello was recently nominated for an Independent Spirit Award for “Downloading Nancy,” and Sheen most recently starred in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon” and “The Damned United.”
Sundance Institute today announced eight films from the 2010 Sundance Film Festival scheduled to screen in eight different cities nationwide on the night of Thursday, January 28, 2010. The screenings are part of the inaugural Sundance Film Festival USA, a ground-breaking initiative designed to highlight the ability of art, specifically film, to introduce new concepts, challenge ideals and spur debate. The Sundance Film Festival opens January 21 and runs through January 31, 2010.
Courtesy of Official Airline Sponsor Southwest Airlines, filmmakers will be dispatched from the Sundance Film Festival in Park City to cities across America, where they will introduce and screen their original films and engage in Q&As with local audiences. In addition to premiering their work at the 2010 Sundance Film Festival, most of these artists have a previous connection to the non-profit Sundance Institute, whether as advisors to the Institute’s directors’ or screenwriters’ labs, or as participants in past Festivals. In each city an introduction video featuring Robert Redford and highlights from the Festival will precede the screenings. Tickets for the January 28 screenings are available through each individual theater’s box office.
Films screening as part of Sundance Film Festival USA are:

Craig Ferguson <3 Maria Bello! Because she’s on his show again next week. Catch her on ‘Craig’s 1000th Show’ on Tuesday 15th December.
I will of course be looking out for a video, so if you can’t catch the show on TV (or you just want to watch it again!) then check back here for a video and screencaps.
Maria has attended a couple of events in the last few days – the Hollywood Reporter Women In Entertainment Breakfast on Friday, and yesterday the Artivist Film Festival Awards. Photos from both events have been added! I particularly like her look at the Artivist Awards – I love the black dress and dark eyes!
Really exciting news, fellow Maria fans – Ms Bello has been nominated for a Film Independent Spirit Award for her performance in Downloading Nancy! This came as a bit of a shock to me, seeing as despite the fact that her performance looks to be incredible and has got great reviews, it didn’t seem like the type of film that would be readily acknowledged come awards time. So for her to get nominated at the Spirit Awards is fantastic. Congratulations to Maria for this honour.
“The Last Station,” which looks at Russian author Leo Tolstoy’s final days, and “Precious,” the portrait of a troubled inner-city teenager, led the 2010 Spirit Award nominations, with five each.
Both movies were nominated Tuesday morning for best feature along with “(500) Days of Summer,” “Amreeka” and “Sin Nombre.”
The Coen brothers’ “A Serious Man” was awarded the group’s Robert Altman Award, which goes to the film’s cast and its casting director. And the indie horror hit “Paranormal Activity” even made an appearance with a nomination as best first feature.
Katie Holmes, Ben Affleck, 50 Cent and Dakota Fanning are among the A-listers taking their films to the Sundance Film Festival.
The festival’s premieres section includes 13 films screening out of competition, among them The Company Men, a corporate-downsizing tale starring Ben, Kevin Costner, Maria Bello and Tommy Lee Jones.
Katie joins John C Reilly and Kevin Kline for the gigolo story The Extra Man, while 50 Cent appears with Chace Crawford, Emma Roberts and Kiefer Sutherland in the crime drama Twelve from director Joel Schumacher.
Dakota and her Twilight co-star Kristen Stewart team up for director Floria Sigismondi’s The Runaways, a portrait of rocker Joan Jett as she forms her band in the 1970s.
