"As I’ve gotten older I’ve become more open. You stop judging yourself and you stop judging others. And it
doesn’t matter anymore if anybody likes you."
I’ve added over 200 photos from various recent(-ish) appearances today! This includes photos from the The Yellow Handkerchief premiere held in February that I never found time to add pics from until now. There are also 3 new-old event additions – a Boston Common party held last summer, two Joyful Heart events, and a Haiti relief brunch held earlier this year. On top of that, there are various additions to a few other event albums from the past few months – click Last Uploads to see everything added.
Also, you may (or may not!) be wondering why the appearance categories from earlier years are still empty – I had a ton of stuff on my external hard-drive saved and ready to be sorted and added, but very unfortunately I had a problem with that external HD. It went in to be fixed last summer and has not come back yet! I’m still waiting with much hope that it will come back safe very soon. Once I get some definite news on it I will start working as quickly as possible to build those appearance sections up. I’ll also be adding a trillion magazine scans once my scanner is fixed too (I’m not having too much luck with equipment at the moment!). Cross your fingers for me
The newly single actress — she split with musician fiancé Bryn Mooser last year — doesn’t have the air of mystery that many women do.
“I don’t really date,” admits Bello from her home in Venice, Calif. “What I always think when I’m speaking to a man is that they’ve already seen me naked. Or if they haven’t, they can Google me and see me naked.”
Indeed, Bello has appeared in graphic sex scenes in a number of roles, albeit respectable ones, including as a Vegas waitress in The Cooler, and a suffering wife in A History of Violence.
Not that she’s actively looking.
“I’ve never had a traditional relationship,” says the 42-year-old Pennsylvania native. “I’ve never been married. Though I’ve been close, I’ve never quite pulled the plug!”
Add to that — Bello’s plate is pretty full. She’s currently promoting The Yellow Handkerchief, out Friday. It’s a road trip movie about an ex con (William Hurt) trying to get back to his lost love (Bello). Along the way he meets up with two teens — one being Twilight’s Kristen Stewart (the film was shot in 2008 — pre vampire furor).
Before Kristen Stewart became ubiquitous as Bella Swan, she shot a little movie called “The Yellow Handkerchief,” about three misfits on a road trip who bond over their shared loneliness. After the film was completed, the actress became a superstar. Yet her “Handkerchief” co-stars insist that Stewart is the same girl she’s always been, even with the pandemonium surrounding her.
“Well, Kristen before the whole hoopla of ‘Twilight’ was an amazing actress when she did this part,” co-star Maria Bello told MTV News at the premiere on Thursday night in Los Angeles. “I saw her in ‘Into the Wild’ as well and I couldn’t believe her depth and emotional integrity. And I’m so proud to be in this with her.”
It’s not just Bello who has kind words for the star. Her on-screen love interest in “The Yellow Handkerchief,” Eddie Redmayne, says that both she and his old pal, Robert Pattinson, have handled their fame with class. He says that as they grow more famous, he hopes their work will continue to become more interesting.
In limited release, Samuel Goldwyn Films launched its long-delayed William Hurt starrer “The Yellow Handkerchief” to $42,000 at seven screens in New York and L.A. Road-trip drama, which co-stars Kristen Stewart and Maria Bello, will expand to the top 20 markets in the coming weeks.
Kristen Stewart smouldered in front of a barrage of flashes at the Los Angeles premiere of The Yellow Handkerchief.
The Twilight star, who wore a short black dress, walked the red carpet outside the Pacific Design Centre as the photographers snapped away, and then quickly made her way into the screening.
Kristen’s co-star Maria Bello was full of praise for the young actress.
“I have to say I saw Kristen in Into The Wild and was so impressed with her depth and integrity and was so thrilled to do this film with her, which I think she’s amazing in,” she said.
“I think the Twilight thing is just like a bunch of bells and whistles because she’s going to have a fantastic career because she’s really great at what she does.”
Six years ago, “The Notebook” was viewed as a bomb. Weeks before its release, the film had received negative reviews, bad buzz and was being viewed as a potential failure. Then the people got to see it and reminded critics that ultimately they’re the ones whose voice means the most.
Opening Friday (February 26), “The Yellow Handkerchief” would seem to have a much easier battle. It has a young star in it far more famous than Rachel McAdams or Ryan Gosling were back in 2004 — “Twilight” icon Kristen Stewart — and similarly employs a dual depiction of romance for both old and young romantics alike. So why has it had such a difficult road to a theater near you?
“It’s such a gorgeous movie — it has to be seen, so Arthur Cohn worked his butt off to get the movie out there,” explained Maria Bello, invoking the name of the six-time Oscar winner who produced the film, which was made in mid-2007. “I’m really pleased about it [finally coming out].”
Both Bello (who appears as a skeptical woman wondering if she can once again trust her ex-con lover played by William Hurt) and Stewart (who plays a mysterious teen toying with the heart of a lovestruck character played by Eddie Redmayne) expressed happiness over comparisons to “The Notebook” — and like that film that many now consider to be among the best romantic films of the last decade, you’d better bring a box of Kleenex.
Hi fans, I have to apologise for the lack of updates here recently, especially as Maria has been promoting The Yellow Handkerchief in the past couple of weeks. Things have just been a bit busy offline! I will catch up on new photos soon, but for now here are a few videos of recent promotional interviews that Maria has done for The Yellow Handkerchief, including a tv appearance on The Bonnie Hunt Show. Stay tuned for more new stuff very soon …
Clips: “The Yellow Handkerchief” The Good: Kristen Stewart, William Hurt and Maria Bello. These are three people who don’t need to do anything to attract your attention. Eddie Redmayne, on the other hand, is a lesser known actor, but manages to make a striking impact in just a few minutes of film. The Bad: All five clips are major snoozers. There are some promising elements in each, but you’ll have to put some effort in to find them. Promotional Power: Minimal. All intrigue comes from the impressive cast, not from the actual footage. Check out all five here.
‘Yellow Handkerchief’ Clip: May And Brett

Brett Hanson (William Hurt) dealing with a painful past, crosses paths with a lonely and troubled teenager Martine (Kristen Stewart) and her new ‘ride’ Gordy (Eddie Redmayne). The trio head out together, each motivated by reasons of their own.
