Born in Brooklyn (2001)

This was a half-hour comedy pilot made for ABC that was not picked up. It centered on a young couple – a busy book publisher (Maria) and her lawyer husband – who are preparing for the birth of their first child. Fashion designer Isaac Mizrahi was cast as the head of public relations for a New York book publisher who is Maria’s character’s ‘gay best friend’ and her ‘work husband of many years’. Actress Tamara Taylor was also cast as a young, upcoming book editor. The script was written by Becky Mode.

Due South (1996)

Maria played reporter Mackenzie King in the Season 2 episode ‘One Good Man’. The role was originally played by Madolyn Smith Osborne in the first season. This episode was broadcast on February 8th 1996.

Due South is an award-winning comedy-drama made in Toronto, Canada by Alliance Communications. It is about RCMP Const. Benton Fraser (played by Paul Gross). He came to Chicago on the trail of his father’s murderer, and by the end of the Pilot film, due to various circumstances, finds himself permanently posted to the Canadian Consulate in Chicago. In Chicago he also meets Ray Vecchio (David Marciano), a Chicago PD detective. Together they continue their search for the truth and justice, and cause mayhem.

Quote –
Mackenzie King: “It’s A Wonderful Life,” right?
Fraser: Yes, actually. 32 times. It was the Reverend’s favorite film. Well, that and “The Passion of Joan of Arc”.
Mackenzie King: No, you see that’s why movies are dangerous, Fraser. They take young minds and twist them into believing things like, like courage and hope and one man can make a difference. This may come as a shock to you and the Reverend, but real life is not a Frank Capra movie.

The Commish (1995)

Maria played Betsy in the Season 5 episode ‘In the Shadows of the Gallows’. The episode aired on November 30th 1995.

Slightly offbeat television police comedy/drama. Tony Scali is the police commissioner in a small town, where solutions to difficult situations often require considerable creativity. Tony’s easygoing manner and clever intellect are much more useful to him than weapons or brute force in his fight against crime.

- Also starring: Michael Chiklis, Theresa Saldana, Kaj-Erik Eriksen
- Created by: Stephen J. Cannell and Stephen Kronish
- Genre: Drama, Crime, Comedy
- Ran from 1991-1996

Nowhere Man (1995)

Maria played Emily Noonan in episode ‘The Enemy Within’. Emily discovers Tom after he’s been shot, and she drags him back to her house and nurses him back to health. This episode aired on November 20th 1995.

Bruce Greenwood stars as Thomas Veil who, as a photographer, had taken many controversial pictures during recent travels, with one standing out amongst the guests at the opening of his gallery.

Later, at dinner, when he returns from a brief trip to the restroom, he finds his life has changed. The staff does not know him, though he has been a regular there, and his wife is gone.

Later instances prove that his identity has been wiped clean. People whom he knows seem not to know him, including his wife. All of his identification and monetary cards seem to not work or be tied to him. Returning to his gallery, the star picture, four men hanging with their identities covered, is gone.

The next year of Thomas Veil’s life is a hunt for the true identities of those dead men, the importance of that picture, and a search for what roll he truly plays in the big picture.

Misery Loves Company (1995)

Maria played Joe’s Former Film Student in episode ‘That Book by Naboko’. The episode aired on October 15th 1995.

A look at long-term relationships, marriage and divorce from the male perspective. This comedy focuses on four close friends in the various stages of their relationships, from the thrill of dating to the agony of divorce. Joe, Lewis and Perry serve as each other’s crutches — usually over pizza or Chinese take-out, often at the home of Joe’s brother Mitch, a romantic optimist who has yet to tie the knot. Joe, in the legal throes of splitting with his wife, is an active volcano ready to explode into a tirade about the evils of love. Perry has been married and divorced so many times he’s an expert on the subject, with Zen-like perspective on every situation. However, he’s having trouble raising his teenage son, Connor. Lewis, the most sensitive of the group, believes his marriage is solid, but is in obvious denial.

- Also starring: Dennis Boutsikaris (as Joe), Christopher Meloni, Stephen Furst, Julius Carry
- Created by: Michael Jacobs, David Trainer, Bob Young
- Genre: Comedy
- Had a total of 8 episodes, each lasting 30 minutes. Only the first 4 episodes were aired.
